5.20 battery life

Anyone else notice a drop in battery life after updating to 5.20? I went from approx 7 days to 5 days if I'm lucky. I have no different apps or watch faces on my device from when I had the last software before 5.20.
  • My initial experience regarding battery life after updating to firmware 5.40:
Fully charged to totally drained battery managed 90 hours.
During this time the GPS was ON for 4 hours and 20 minutes. The rest was more or less as usual.
So, slightly better than the 70 to 80 hours battery life I had with 5.20, but it will take time to be sure if there is a real improvement...

How could you get such an incredible battery life like that? Mine dropped 50% for just 12hours with everything off.
  • I dont find any notice in drop of battery life, albeit my device is new (less than a month old)... I sync every 2-3 days and i get a battery life of 7-8 days (no activity, just the usual walking and stair counts and sleep and HR).. with activity of 40 mins cycling i got a battery of 6 days (charged it exactly when 7th day was beginning)... have charged only once till now :P Will update if i find any issue... my response might be useless as my device is new... anyway wish to post and get in touch with all of you..
    Cheers guys..

And still you are on 5.40? Mine is 8 months old but it was never drained the juice like the firmware I am in now.

Is there any ways to downgrade the firmware?
  • My 2 month old VA3 is now showing increased battery usage as well, I haven't changed usage and went from approx. 0.7% per hour to 1.2% per hour on average

I really hope Garmin reads these posts! The Helpdesk in the Netherlands here only exchanges your watch for a refurbished one. Which I updated to 5.40 and same problems again!

    - low battery
    - no stairs counting
    - no activity minutes

Garmin! Please update as soon as possible to 5.50.

  • I fixed my usage by only enabling move iq and disabling auto activities

I did the same, disabled everything and the draining is still there.

firmware 5.40 the worst for battery life, even after factory reset, my watch still batt hunger. firmware 5.2 my watch can last 7 days but after auto update to 5.40 the battery only last 2 days, same setting and face watch

Sure, it is draining my battery like a hungry gutter in the flood.

No that was on 5.20.. 5.40 sucks both in battery life and stairs count..
