Excessive Battery Drain vivoactive3 music

On SW 2.5 I went from 3-4 days with activities using HR & GPS to a full drain from 100% down to flat lined in 18 hours with no activity. Reading other forums on the vivoactive3 (non music) there was a battery drain issue in V2.5 resolved in 2.6.

I saw on 4/4/18 SW 2.7 was available. Recieved it 4/5/18. Doing a full power cycle I'm currently tracking about 10% per hour with no activity tracking or GPS. SW 2.7 doesn't appear to be a battery drain fix.

I've removed all watch faces except the active (VSWF) and haven't loaded any music on yet.

Looking to hear of others results and possible solutions.

    I'm still experiencing about 10% battery drain per hour. From 100% to flatlined in approximately 10 hours. I'm really disappointed right now.

    No activity. No GPS. Only one watch face installed. No music loaded on the phone yet. Bluetooth set to off. SW version 2.70.

    I'm not sure what changed from SW 2.40 to 2.50 but the battery drain bug is still there for me in SW 2.70.

    Garmin any suggestions or help?

    I noticed this in SW 2.50 and it happened again just now on SW 2 70. I held the button down to power cycle the vivoactive3 music, when it came back on the remaining battery was 83% it's now 43%. How can it lose 40% by power cycling the device? Something is wonky here.
  • Jagermeister3- My VA3M upgraded to 2.7 several days ago and is not showing this issue. It sounds like you may have a defective unit. Have you contacted Garmin Support?

    Ray,

    Thanks for the info. I've been tracking mine and it's consistently draining 10% per hour. Tonight I did a full reset and reinstalled and synced. After I was done customizing all the fields, tracked it and I'm still losing 10% per hour. I'll contact Garmin support. I'm curious if anyone else is experiencing this or if it's just my device.

    thanks,

    Eric
  • I'm happy with the battery life on my Vivoactive 3 music to be honest. It seems pretty much bang on what was advertised.

    I've not noticed any difference after fw updates. Hope you get yours sorted.
  • I own a vivoactive 3 HR Music and an Iphone and I am having the same excessive battery drain issue.

    I did a hard reset of the watch, I use a garmin watchface, I removed every widget, I am not using the GPS and I turned off notifications. I barely get 3 days.
  • First thing I did was adjust the back light settings...

    gesture = off
    timeout = short
    brightness = 10%

    I think gesture is the most important one because I don't think the watch has a light sensor as far as I can see so the light will be coming on all the time.
  • The drain comes from the bluetooth connection. If I turn the bluetooth off on my watch the drain stops. However if I turn the bluetooth off on my phone, the drain accelerates.

    Question: Do you keep your watch near your phone most of the time, or are they often separated? My phone is nearly aways within bluetooth range, and I don't experience battery drain issues.

    There must be something wrong with your watch: mine loses 10-15% charge every day if I don't use GPS or music.
