Activity Class

Today I noticed my Activity Class is set to 5. I never set this or even noticed it before. There's not a lot of documentation from Garmin except a chart that explains different levels of activity class.

- Is it set automatically by the smartwatch? or is 5 a default value set for everyone?
- Does it get updated as user's activity level changes?
  • When setting up your watch you were probably asked at some point how often do you exercise and you were offered options of LOW-MED-HIGH as answers so by selecting MED it was set to 5.

It won't get updated automatically, you need to update it manually.
  • I've setup and re-setup my watch quite a few times - I get questions about my sleeping patters, which hand do I use to wear the watch, etc, but never got a question about my activity level.
  • Please see the attached image for a breakdown of the various Activity Class levels. ciq.forums.garmin.com/.../1351932.png
  • Well then maybe when you were first registering connect account. Maybe that option was only offered to me when I was setting up VSHR, I'm not sure.

You can change activity class on android by going to connect app, press hamburger menu icon, press settings icon, press user settings and there you should have an option to set your activity class. Set activity class according to a chart in a post above this.

Blake, I'm aware of that chart but that's not the question. My question is about how that number is initially selected (since I didn't select anything), if it changes automatically and how does that affect measurements (or anything in general).
  • It does not change automatically - it is for you to describe your activity level
