Swimming app stop/start activity issues

So recently I've been varying my swim exercises. I usually start with a 400m mixed warm up, rest, then stop my watch by holding down the button, (do not save yet) then I contuine my work out with perfecting my stroke by doinging various exercises with floats and kick boards for a few laps (watch still stoped, not in rest) once done, I press button to start recording again and usually finish up with a 600m mixed stroke. During this time, the watch only recorded time. No other stats despite the app saying it's starting the activity again .

Also, the backlight and side touch continually get activated in the water. Still.
  • Maybe I'm missing something or not understanding what you're doing but my experience has been --
If I do a long press to stop a swim, I cannot re-start the swim but only save it. (I think I've tried to restart but it locked up the watch -- it went into a never-ending saving spiral).
Otherwise, if I do short button presses this has worked fine to create rests/intervals.

Yes, so if I long press it to stop then later try to continue, it will not record any stats other than time. Even if I swim multiple laps, Does not count them. The short press to stop and start works as should .
  • why are you doing a "rest" (short press) and then "stop" (long press)?
why not just leave the watch in "rest" mode until you are ready to start recording again?

as i say above, once I "stop" (long press), I have not figured a way out of that screen other than saving the activity and starting a new activity.

**there's also no option to delete the activity which is kind of a bummer if you want to test stuff
** for backlight, i try to remember to put at 0% before pool swim to minimize battery loss

i like to stop it because otherwise it will be like 30-45mins before i start to swim laps again, and last i tried that, if i remember, it timed out and auto saved the activity.
