Hello,
I have new Garmin Vivoactive 3 and from the past HR strap Polar H7 (Bluetooth Smart). But a new problem has occurred with FW 2.80. When I connect the HR strap to my watch, connection is "unstable". It looks like:
- HR strap connect automatically.
- Message pop up that the external HR sensor has been connected.
- for half second show my HR
- then heart rate is gone for 5 sec. **and the whole story is repeated over and over again:
- after few second message pop up that the external HR sensor has been connected.... than again falls...

So I tried to leave it for half an hour, but the connection always falls after half a second (maybe less). I have done the following steps but without success:
- I have checked functionality of HR strap on other devices. It is working fine with two mobiles and with sport watch of another brand.
- I've restarted my watch Vivoactive 3 several times.
- I removed the paired device from the watch and re-paired them again (several times)
- For sure, I replaced the battery in the HR strap.
- Cadence sensor also Bluetooth is working fine with Vivoactive 3.
- I've tried to connect the HR strap to my Vivoactive 3 very far away from other devices (including mobile).
- according to the forum, the Polar H7 worked well with the old versions of FW.
- I updated watch to FW 2.90
- I restored factory data (another question: is there any chance do back up? / I only copied data and result is, that old setttins is set, but my progress from past is gone.)
- I have written an email to support: advice> restart / upgrade the FW or eventually perform factory reset.

So is it know issue? Or what can I do to fix my problem? This situation is really stressful. Please, could anybody help me?
Thanks

Is there anyone to confirm that any one Bluetooth HR strap (any brand) works correctly with FW 2.80 /2.90?

I use a Wahoo Tickr X with my VA3 for strength training. It's dual channel but I use it in the BT mode because I see connection drops with my Garmin HRM strap that is ANT+ only. The connection to the Tickr is solid and the only time I have drops with it is when I'm doing an exercise where some part of the equipment gets between the strap module and the watch.
  • I am a new user slso, have asked a couple of questions on this board and no answers. I don't know the answer to your question but it seems to m e this board is very cliqueish and they don't feel lime helping newcomers.

I'm not sure which questions you've asked that haven't received any response as a rule I don't post to a thread if I don't have an answer to the question. If I'm not sure what the person is asking for I'll ask questions to make sure that I understand the problem first and if then I still don't have usable response I'll say so.

I'm sorry that you haven't gotten responses to the questions you've posted but generally I've found that this is a very helpful board. While there are a good deal of people who post often I don't feel like there are any real cliques.

I believe distance is counted for steps taken outside an activity.

Thank you for your response. So at least some of them work with VA3.
Today I tested other type of Bluetooth HR strap, witch I have borrowed from my friend. It's some of the Chinese brand, but with Suunto watch works smoothly. But with VA3 the connection is terrible. It drops every 15-30 seconds.
Now, I'm really concerned and disappointed. Do you think that this is due to bad FW (and there is hope that in the future they will fix it) or a weak hardware?

How Garmin can have so much trouble with such a basic feature? The Bluetooth Smart and ANT + are certified standards.
