Issues with wrist HR

Have run over 100 miles the last 2 weeks with my VVA 3. First week no real issues. Second week I began to notice the HR way off at the start of a run. Please know this, have run over 4.000 miles with my FR235 since 11/15. No issues with wrist HR. I have run several x with my Garmin HR strap, no issues. Today's run, I stopped for 1/2 hour and kept the watch in pause mode. Started running again, HR was off by 40+ beats. Not sure why. Anyone else having issues?
Don't know if this has anything to do,with it, but since I picked up a couple of Fantek watch bands the HR issues seemed to have appeared. Love the looks of them, but function rules over looks. Guess I will go back to stock band, though not sure if that is the issue. Your experiences appreciated. Nick
  • I hadn't had any issues in the last 2 weeks with the wHRM on my VA3 until yesterday. I was doing a 16 mile LR and was going nice and easy keeping my HR just under 140. I stopped just after hitting 9 miles to refill my handheld water bottle. When I started back up the HR reading stayed really low for about 1/4 mile and then jumped up to 156 and stayed there for quite a while even though I was running the same pace as before. Eventually it settled down to where it should be for the effort.

It later went back into the mid 150's when I picked up the pace some and was the right sort of number for the effort.
  • I've noticed inaccuracy with the HRM quite often. My experience is during gym workouts, and I know that I can't expect great accuracy with this type of activity, but its been way off. I finished off my workout with the stair climber and both the machine and my Apple Watch were around the 160bpm range. My VA3 averaged 85bpm. That's an insane difference.
  • Tried a little different approach prior to this morning's 8 mile run. While walking my dog prior to,running I started a run and deleted when I finished my walk. Stayed in run mode, the first mile or so was a little low, so I stopped/paused and tightened the watch strap one notch. The remaining 7 miles were on target. Watch was tighter than when I run with my FR235, but hey at least it worked. Still not sure if the Fantek Watch strap caused the prior issues, it is definitely a little "softer/ more flexible than the stock band. Nick
