6 hrs battery

i charged it before setting up and 6 hours later it was out of power. there's no controls to turn off gps which was my first idea
  • anyone know what the spec says? I'd be interested if you get the same on the 2nd charge. Where you recording activities for the whole 6 hours? Was it definitely fully charged?
  • second charge also problem
  • what firmware version are you on? you should be on 2.40. Also power down the watch after you have updated, some times things go wonky on new watches and so a reboot is advisable.
  • GPS isn't on unless you're in an activity that uses it. If I understand what I've seen in some of the hands on videos correctly it's pretty easy to swipe from an activity to the watch face. Is it possible that you're doing something like that? Maybe starting a GPS activity to set the time and then swiping away from it instead of ending it.

Spec claims something like 12-13 hours of GPS usage, but if you're hanging out indoors with it active it will have a poor signal and run the receiver at a higher power to compensate.

Must be a bad unit. I charged mine to 100 percent last night till about 830pm, now its 6am and its still showing 91%

Definitely odd - I charged mine to almost 100% last night - high 90's, then slept with it on... now, about 10 hours later, I'm at 93%.

2.40 here and battery life is draining at a rate of roughly 10% per day, which is better than I had anticipated. My VA-HR only went through about 5-7%, but that wasnt anywhere near the same device. Garmin's official battery information said 7 days battery life IIRC, so 10 is fine by me.

I did however disable the raise to wake gesture and the side scroll sensor (kept turning the screen on and scrolling around).
  • I talked with Garmin. Apparently I had made it worse by having a pulse check every second instead of the smart setting. They also suggested that one of the two non-garmin widgets might have been responsible. I removed Accuweather minute cast and Maps. Battery has been working well for two hours.

I use the minute cast on my original vivo, so I sort of doubt that is the issue, though the maps? (I'll find out in a few hours, come on mail lady)
