Venu Start Activity (After GPS has Locked) is Intermittent

I am having an issue with starting a running activity once the GPS has locked.

The sequence of button/screen presses is as follows:

Top Right (A) button to bring up the options.

Select 'Run' by pressing the screen.

Wait for GPS lock.

Once GPS lock has been achieved press the Top Right (A) button again.

At this point the activity timer should start - but around 30% or so of the time it doesn't.

Repeated pressing of button A either does nothing or the display reverts to the previous screen where you choose an activity.

If I am on a training run then it's not a huge deal & I can usually get the activity to start withing a few minutes.

If however I am in a race then this is no good as I either miss the first few minutes of the run or can't get it to start at all.

It does appear that if I start the activity by pressing button A immediately after GPS lock is achieved then the activity timer starts OK in most cases.

The issue seems to be that if GPS lock is achieved and I wait a minute or two before pressing button A the issue is more obvious.

In a race situation this is what happens, you make sure that GPS lock is OK in advance of the race starting.

Thanks

  • Hello .  Sorry to hear about the button issue that you're experiencing.  I'd recommend first trying a hard reset of the watch.

To perform a hard reset, press and hold the power button on your watch.  Ignore the "Power Off" question and the assistance alert (if applicable) on your watch, just continue holding the power button pressed down until the screen goes blank.  Once this occurs, you may release the button.  Allow the watch to sit powered off for a few seconds, then you may power it back on by pressing and releasing the power button.

  • Hello

    Update on this issue.

Unfortunately despite hard resets and multiple software/firmware updates this problem persists. Once again, the first 2km of a race was spent trying and failing to start the activity.

I have zero trust in this watch which is very disappointing for a piece of kit that cost almost £300.
