High battery drain since sensor update

Since the sensor update two weeks ago, I'm seeing on average 2% per hour drain with never below 1% per hour drain like I was seeing before. Twice have I rebooted the watch by holding the top button until it turns off. I've also deactivated all mu external sensors to no avail. The high drain continues. Nothing has changed beside deactivating the sensors. Don't know what to do next. Any idea?

Hello! Can I have you perform a factory reset on the device, charge to 100 percent, and see how it performs? Menu>Settings>System>Reset>Delete Data and Reset Settings

  • Sigh, I hate doing that. I have to reconfigure everything from watch face parameters, widgets, activity settings/order, reconfigure pace data and enter all my sensors again. I'm sure I'm forgetting things as well.

  • Hi Isabella, I have the same problem and did the reset. The problem still exists. In 6 hours 12% battery loss, without any activity.

Hello!  Do you have the pulse ox sensor on? Do you use any connect IQ content on the watch? If no to both of these, can you let me know if you are in the US or Canada?

  • Hello, I have the pulse ox sensor permanently on and content via Connect IQ I do not use. I come from Germany.

  • I bought my venu about 5 months ago and have had no problems. I haven’t been using it for anything crazy and my watch has been lasting about a week on one charge. Now it’s lasting like 1-2 days max. I’m not using the GPS during this time.

  • I would try turning the Pulse OX on only at night.  It only takes it during the day periodically when you’re sitting still anyways and uses battery to constantly gauge your activity level.  You can always take it on demand during the day when sitting down.

  • Same here. After update I get only 1.5-2 days of battery life and it is insane! I am super disappointed and it looks like Garmin doesn’t give a ***t. And yes, I tried to reset the watch, still the same. Ant battery drop is super random. Sometimes over the night it drops a couple of percents, sometimes I have 50 % before sleep and it dies at 3AM (I have an app for battery monitoring now) and I oversleep work, because the alarm doesn’t go off.

And no, I won’t turn off all the sensors, because - hello - with the same usage a couple of weeks ago I had 4-5 days of battery life! Fix the software, god damn it. I am very angry, never had such nasty software updates when I had a Fitbit.
