the open water swimming feature is available at garmin venu
Hello! Are you asking if the Venu supports open water? It is not available on this device. The Venu does support pool swimming.
I guess people want to know WHY is this functionality not available. The Venu, Venu 2 and Venu 2+ all have the hardware and software capabilities to allow this functionality, but it seems to be excluded by Garmin intentionally. I expect that this is so that the product fits nicely in the product mix or doesn't canabalise sales from the Pheonix range...
How about an honest answer here, not just "Its not available on this device"
How come it doesn't exist? I bought the Venu 2 and I'm disappointed since my main reason to have the watch is to have the open water swimming option... I might return it.
This is Garmin managing product functionality and price point... If you want open-water swimming functionality you must get a Pheonix or a swim specific garmin watch... But this is not a case of the watch not having the "ability" to provide this function, its about Garmin limiting the functionality so that if you want open water swiming, you go up a pricepoint to the Phenix. Sad. There is an app "swim pro" or something like that, that you can download to the watch, which allows this functionality...
Damn! It really smelled like a business decision... they should stop building thousands of watches and focus on a few watches packed with really important key functionalities to avoid this frustration for their clients. I won't pay 3 times the price of the Venu 2 and get a Fenix in order to have this functionality! And I won't have a specific swimming watch since I also do other physical activities. What stress me out is that this is an existent feature, so it won't hurt them to implement it.
