No, I haven't. I don't swim. But tightening the strap will definitely improve your HR a lot. Water and sweat are bad for wrist-based HR and that is why it is recommended to have a tighter fit during workouts (naturally tighter fit would also mean less wobble, improving HR again).

You can connect the strap to the watch and use it as a normal HR strap, but not for swimming.
