Venu 2 charging slowly since recent firmware update

I've noticed that my Venu 2 now charges the battery much slower than it used to. Think it's since one of the recent firmware updates. I always used to be able to plug it in for a daily top up and about 20 mins would be sufficient to replenish the battery. Now it's taking a lot longer. Recently I let it run down over several days (My venu 2 is about 18 months old and I've no issue with how long a charged battery is lasting), and it took about 2 hours to charge back up to full from about 15%. It used to do a full charge in about an hour, or less.

Is this an intentional change? I notice some cryptic comments in the firmware update notes about 'changes to preserve the lifespan of the battery'. Seems they've maybe slowed down the charging current to put less stress on the battery. Not sure if that'll make any difference, but the slower charging is certainly a bit frustrating.

  • But it is charging fully, but not at the normal speed, so what can a local garmin team do? Just change the firmware like it was and everyting will be solved

  • Hello,

This morning my VENU2 propse me update 16.11. I accept or not this upgrade?

    Thanks for answer.

  • I have also encountered the same issue.  Ever since June 2023, it takes around 2 hours, even more, to fully charge it, and the battery drains way more quickly than it did before.  5 days compared to the usual 7-8.  Also it drops from 20% to 0% in literally minutes, making the whole battery saving mode completely useless.

  • I've had the exact same problem since around September 20th. I called the GARMIN FRANCE after-sales service and they will change my watch for free (it is no longer under warranty, however)
