Venu2s randomly going into battery saver mode

My partner's Venu2s keeps going into battery saver mode randomly, even when the battery level is over 90%. I think it does it every day or two which drives her mad.

The watch sometimes vibrates and she looks to see it in an about to enter battery saver screen with a timeout that she might get to in time to cancel it. Other times just goes to look at the watch and it's on the battery saver minimal home screen.

I've never seen my Venu2 do this and haven't been able to make her watch do it "on demand" by fiddling with it myself so don't know what's triggering it.

I tried disabling the battery saver icon/button from the "quick launch" circle of icons when you hold down the top button, no change so it's not that somehow being pressed. That wouldn't show a timeout screen anyway.

I've heard of a "Power Save Timeout Setting" where the watch goes into battery saver if you leave it on an "activity waiting to start" screen.

However I can't find the setting and l've tried to reproduce it on my watch by going to the "walk" activity screen, where it says "waiting for GPS", but never hitting start. It eventually times out and goes back to the normal watch screen without entering battery saver mode.

So it appears the venu2 doesn't have this feature anyway?

Does anyone know what might be causing this?

  • Same problem here. Will try choosing a watch face without a battery icon but it's a terrible workaround - how do I then know when to charge it?

  • Hi, my watch has been doing the same, inexplicably going into battery saver without touching any of the buttons and whilst having a good level of charge. This is frustrating considering how many menus you have to go through to manually switch this on, and finding it again whilst in battery saver (low brightness, difficult to see if outside) is even more annoying. Has there been a fix published to all of these forum entries?

  • I changed my watch face so that the battery % was not one of the items showing. It is a pain to switch to another screen to see remaining batter % and I really liked my old watch face alot but now that I changed it I don't have the issue with battery saver any more.

  • Especially during winter here in Canada running with layers and a jacket oops into battery saver mode - this happened even when I disabled battery saver- garmin needs to fix this please

  • Hi - Has anyone found a solution to this VERY irritating issue with Venu 2 S ?  Surely someone at Garmin can fix this ?

  • Hi, my solution was just the workaround that’s been mentioned, which is using a screen layout that doesn’t include the battery percentage or status on it. It means having to swipe up to see how much battery is left, but at least it doesn’t randomly go into saver mode when I don’t expect it. I agree that garmin surely should be able to fix this! Is it a case of having the battery on the front screen means it is sensitive to the screen being pressed and is a shortcut to battery saver? Surely it can be changed to not be a shortcut or to mean it has to be pressed for longer to go into battery saver mode?!Click here to play this video
