Firmware version 11.14 messed up garmin pay

I got the firmware update this morning and after that when I tried to pay using Venu2s selecting second card my transaction was refused by the bank due to insufficient founds despite the fact that I had sufficient money on my bank account.

Later this evening I tried to pay for a bottle of water using the same card as this morning, payment was accepted, but instead of using the card I selected, payment was made with the first card I have it on Garmin pay. I know that because I got a notification from my bank that I made a payment.

It seems that no matter what card I select to pay, in fact the first card stored is used which is a big issue.

I never had problems paying with my Venu2s before.

Is anyone having the same issue like me?

UPDATE

I called the support and told them about my issue. They put me to remove all cards from wallet, remove the tracker, then add back the tracker and then the cards. I have the cards on garmin pay, but not on the tracker

  • now I can't have even one card because when I add a card it won't show up on watch, just on garmin connect wallet.

I'm curious - did you try to hard reset the watch?

Arrow right Factory Reset GARMIN Venu2, 2 buttons method

  • No, I didn't reset the watch. I just did what garmin support told me to do

  • Did you reset your watch after firmware update as well?

  • No, as I said, I did it before update, because I had battery drain issues. There is no difference if you reset your watch, unpair from phone, disable card in Connect or do anything else that requires to approve your bank card or add it again, at this point there is no going back, you will lose ability to use Garmin Pay.

  • Did you reset your watch after firmware update as well?

Well, it was my first task in the past after every single (forced) update of the watch firmware - to prevent any issues related to "previous content".

I've been able to "skip" forced update to 10.22 (see this thread) but 11.14 has been installed on my watch yesterday :|

Maybe because the watch has been fully discharged (probably for the first time I filled the storage, see thread linked above) - some files have been probably removed from the storage because of "start from zero" and there was enough storage for the firmware file.

I plugged the watch to charger and later found a message "Software Updated to 11.14".... I miss the prompt to postpone the update..... :|

So, I'm on 11.14....Garmin Pay is working in my case (I use only the first of two cards).

Because I found this issue I'm not sure it's "safe" to do (usual) hard reset in my case...
But Garmin Pay is not working in your case - you have nothing to lose but maybe it will fix the issue.

  • I did it before update

Try once more - after the (problematic) update... Fingers crossed...

  • If you reset watch, unpair from phone, uninstall app, etc.. you will lose Garmin Pay!

  • Try once more - after the (problematic) update... Fingers crossed...

I did it dozens of times, spent many hours trying to find workaround, and tried every combination of install/uninstall, reset, add/remove, pair/unpair, etc.., but without success. Garmin pay is gone for good...

  • Contact garmin support and let them know you're having issues as well. I contacted them on 22 thru email and on phone on 23 morning. Lady from support told me that no one else opened a ticket about this bug so far.

Maybe if we are more to open tickets, they will move faster to fix it

  • Already sent them an e-mail today. Live support is not available because of holydays in USA. If I get a useful response, will let you know.
