Can't get past first setup screen of a new scale

hello all,
my scale arrived today and it connects via Bluetooth to my phone, then on the screen where it asks for Name or Initials, gender, etc after I tap next, the app shows me an error "Something went wrong. Try again". I tried different times, reseted the scale and nothing works. It shows on my account but cant do anything other than remove it.

Has anyone encountered a similar issue?
