right Pedal body vector 3s coming loose from cartridge

Hi team,

it appears on my right Vector 3s the pedal body is becoming loose from the cartridge. The pedal does not spin freely at all - quite alot of resistance.

Is there a fix for this? The Vector 3 service video from Garmin does not touch this part? Photo showing the issue. The left side pedal has no issue.

When I open the battery cap, the hex nut can not be reached.

I'm using my pedals for over 2years now and I'm very happy with them.

Can someone advise me how to sort this problem out?

I've tried contacting Garmin Belgium but they said that this is not a problem they heard about and that I simple should buy a new right pedal.

It looks like a manufacturing issue in that either insufficient Loctite was applied or what was applied was not strong enough.

I would pursue this with Garmin.

The options are to either get a new pedal…

Turns out to be a easy fix. Thanks guys for the help. Little bit of loctite on the treads an turn the think back in the pedaal body.

My right Vector 3 also has a gap between the pedal body and the sleeve. I reported it to Garmin Poland and in response I received a service request with information about the replacement of the pedal body.

The right pedal has been sent back to the warranty service and now I am waiting for a pedal with a new body.

tom_ba_007can you answer my question - what is the thread used (right or left) what is the Loctate glue (red or blue) you used?

My problem was on the right sided pedal.

Unfortunatly I do not recal the direction of the thread. But when you have a gap between the spindel and the pedal body it is easy to figure out the direction (put the metal bit (not the turning bit) between a clamp an see in what direction it goes when turning)

I used a little bit of the blue loctite.

Garmin Poland replaced my pedal with a new one. It lasted a week and I have a brand new pedal. Thanks to Garmin Poland.

How can I get the same product in UK. I have checked lots of websites. But I didn't find the reliable source. I have got one more distributor who supply the USA products in UK. If you cannot source a V3 pedal body you can replace it with a Rally pedal body. Just make sure to get the RK. Unless you wanted to replace both pedal bodies then you could use the RS or XC.

I see no problem in buying parts from other sources. You could try contacting Garmin Support they may still have some V3 inventory.

I’ve got this problem, Garmin want around £100 for a new pedal body, I would like to repair it myself, it’s not broken is it, just needs removing and re-bonding. Unfortunately they won’t sell me a tool or tell when what thread locker they use. It looks like Loctite 425 is the right product (plastic safe)

Any wisdom welcome.

Ok, so I had a go at fixing mine last night, was surprised to fine the cartridge was finger tight, I have wound it out and put a few spots of cyanoacrylate glue on the blue part, and wound it back in. Have read that thread lock for metal being anaerobic is bad for plastic parts, and that Loctite 425 is the right stuff, but is very expensive for what it is and is primarily cyanoacrylate anyway. Will update if it comes loose again.

By the way, the right pedal cartridge has a left handed thread, the same as the black nut on that side.
