Is anyone happy with their vector 3 power meters??

As a happy Edge 1030 owner, I know that forums aren’t always a good indication of overall quality of a product as the 1030 forum is littered with issues that I don’t seem to have any problems with. Mainly because the issues are for features I don’t use, or I’m perhaps lucky that I don’t see some of the ‘common’ problems.
I’m still waiting for more Vector 3 stock to hit Australian shores, but reading these forums I’m nervous that AU$1499 is a lot for a product that doesn’t work.
Is there ANYONE out there who is having a fault free experience?
  • Rob did you buy your pedals directly from Garmin? I assume this is Garmin US you've been dealing with? Garmin UK habe been next to useless. They said they'd open up a case file and i was to send them photos of the battery doors and pedals, pictures of the Garmin workouts etc. I havent heard back and its been 2 weeks.

Ive an important race coming up and they wont offer me a replacement pair and tell me i just have to wait for a 'fix'. How long i have to wait is anyones guess. I really regret buying these. I had a perfectly good pair of P1's that i sold as well. Garmin suppport UK has been shocking.
  • rosscondy I purchased mine from my local bike shop since I like to support them as much as possible. And yes, I have been dealing with Garmin US. When I have been on the phone with them they look at my recorded workout and analyze them right then and there. When they wanted me to unpair and repair the right pedal he asked me to hang on for a second while he grabbed an 820 and a bike with the Vector 3s installed and proceeded to walk me though the process. I knew how to do it but I appreciated the level of care they were providing.
When they asked me for pictures of the pedal interior and of the cap, the stayed on the phone with me chit chatting about rides, runs, and workout we had done until I managed to find a 4mm Allen to take the cap off. I emailed them the pictures right from my phone and talked about it right then and there. The young lady i talked to ordered me a new cap since she noticed multiple right pedal resets. She even let me know that the next step would be to replace the pedals.
My situation is different than yours in the sense that I do not have anything important coming up. This is my first power meter so it is a learning curve for me.

  • Very happy user. Mine just work, even after the first battery swap.

A friend had some issues but Garmin's support was great and helped get it sorted out.
  • I was until I had to change the batteries, despite following the direction in the faq one of the little contact nubs somehow disintegrated. Waiting to hear from Garmin CS about a replacement but I've heard tell of long response times so might just see if I can get a refund from the seller and go with a more tested model.
  • We're not. At first they worked fine then the dreaded 'Right Sensor missing' occurred, managed a work around using PTFE tape (these things cost £900 ffs and we need to use a work around to get it to work!!!). Now the left pedal is not working correctly - get the red light for low battery so change it - still occurs, the right pedal gives the three green flashes, the vector features aren't available just a message saying you have to connect the senors, this immediately after a successful calibration, these are less than 5 mths old - when we get back from training camp (that's a joke without a power meter) they're going back to the shop
  • It took a while, but I'm now happy with my Vector3. This is my 2nd set. Had to replace the batteries on the 2nd set to get them working but they've been consistently solid since then. With the new firmware update, I'm happy.

I'm happy with mine, I've had no issues to date - although I've not had to replace batteries yet.
  • initially i thought they were rubbish. connection issues power spikes and drop outs. checked everything and all was in place but still no better. eventually new batteries went in and put some card under the spring contactor for the batteries and it has worked faultlessly since. go figure.
the only current issue is that i doesn't give me cycling dynamics now. not sure whats changed for that to happen and scared to play with it and loose what i have now haha
  • Happy owner here. Mine were the first batch delivered and maybe 45 rides on them. Have replaced the batteries with no problem.
The only issue I had was after one of the updates I couldn't connect through my android phone and had to use my iPhone but that is fixed with 3.30.

I have been nervous since finding these forums as I was unaware of the issues before reading here but so far so good. Very happy with them.
