"Pairing Failed" - Can't pair Vector 3 with Garmin Connect Mobile

Anyone else having issues pairing Vector 3 with Garmin Connect for Android?

I'm on 3.0.0, my Edge 820 upgraded the pedals.

I just got a new Android phone and while setting up Garmin Connect, it tells me it can't add my Vector pedals.

Tried the following:
- Resetting the pedals (removing and putting back the battery)
- Remove the pedals from the Edge 820
- Reinstall the Garmin Connect Mobile App

Any suggestions?

  • New Vector 3 pedals. Samsung Galaxy S7. Android 8.0.0. GCM 4.11. Doesn't pair.

    And the pedals show up on my Wahoo Elemnt Bolt as a Kickr.
  • That a bug on the Wahoo that was reported to them on another thread.
  • Maybe a dumb question but what is the point of pairing the Vector 3 with the Garmin Connect Mobile app? I like to use my equipment without the need of a phone/phone app and I am doing so happily and without problems for more than a year. I just want accurate power readings and recordings on my head unit; in my case a Edge 1030.

    If you have an older head unit or a PC app that does not allow you to configure Vector 3 parameters such as the crank length or the pedal pairing, then you can use the phone app for that purpose.

    The phone app is pretty much redundant if you have an Edge 1030 or equivalent generation of head unit.

    Updated GCM to 4.12.3 today.,

    When I click on the Settings Android app and go to Connections/Bluetooth, there is a paired device called V3 BLE:0676272, The last 7 digits are the number on the left pedal. Bluetooth is functional on the phone as I have BT Headphones.

    When I spin the cranks to wake up the pedals, the blink sequence on the left pedal is one red, three green and 20 green. The blink sequence on the right pedal is one red and three green.

    The pedals do not pair with GCM.

    The pedals pair and deliver data to a Wahoo Bolt over ANT+. The data is garbage until I can set up the pedals.
  • After spending a week chatting with Garmin Support and talking on the phone with Garmin Support, someone finally admitted that there was a problem with their products. But Garmin provided no solution nor a time frame to resolve.

    I ended up selling my Garmin Vector 2 pedals at a $300 loss because they don't work with my Android phone as advertised so the data generated was garbage.
  • I had to send my first pair of pedals back, and I was struggling to view the settings of my pedals using GCM, then I realised I hadn't removed them from the devices list. I paired the new pedals without a problem, but in the devices list they were displaying as Vector (2) or something like that. I didn't want the parenthesised part so I removed both the old and new pedals. The new pedals wouldn't connect, the status bar got stuck on about 10%. I tried a couple of times. I then turned on my 520 to view the settings and tried connecting the pedals to GCM and that did it.
    Im running a Pixel 2.

    The problem remains to 2019!

    I am using Huawei Mate 10 (android vn8.1.0), and also have the latest GCM for android v4.13.5.

    Clearly, this is a flaw due to GCM, as my phone can find my pedals from the bluetooth pairing in the Setting.

    Same problem here.
    Unable to see my vector 3s pedals using my Android.
    Using Huawei P20 Pro Android version 9
    GCM for Android is 4.13.5 which is the latest updated on 6th Dec 2018.

    The vector 3s pedals are easily detectable on Bluetooth in Settings, but does not pair on GCM.
    They also pair instantly when using my iPhone Apple IOS

    Please fix!
