How to factory reset Vision?

having problems with data fields. I want to try a factory reset of my Vision device, but don't know how to do it. Little help? Thanks!
  • I have checked this with a friend also using an Edge 1030 and Varia Vision and he has exactly same problem. So this is not a stand alone problem but but rather one everyone is having with the current software.

    Basically to break the problem down, when on the Edge 1030 you go into the Varia Vision Sensor setting and try and change the Data Screens, it all get muddled up. For example when I choose 'Elevation' as a data field, Elevation is shown on the Varia Vision, but on the Edge 1030 it will show something completely different, such as HR zone.

    Hope this has made it clearer, but I am sure if you try to change data fields for the Varia Vision, from your Edge unit you will quickly understand the problem.

    Having the same problem configuring Varia Vision Data Screens after updating Edge 1030 firmware to 3.90. Changed a data field last Friday while still on 3.80 without a problem. Issue appeared when attempting to change back on Saturday. Still works fine on Edge 1000 (firmware 14.60), so this may be an Edge 1030 issue rather than a Varia Vision problem. Thanks JoMiSan-Buju for trying the reset on both; will save the rest of us a bit of work.
  • I was able to reproduce the problem and passed this on to Garmin.
  • I can confirm what aweatherall states above. We are researching this issue and will report back once we have a resolution.
  • I have the Edge 1030 with 3.90 software. I just got the Vision device and did the software upgrade on that also. When I select the display screen on the Edge and select a metric to be displayed, I get a random different metric. For example, if I select speed, I will get distance. Also the screens in the vision device are not matching the display screens that I have defined on the Edge under the Vision sensor. I can provide a video of the problem if that helps. At the present time, I cannot use the new Vision device that just came in since the data screens are not working correctly. Very disappointing to get a new device and not have it work correctly when it comes out of the box.

    This problem has been identified for 2 weeks now and tjey have done nothing yet. Being an engineer I know it does not take that long...

    i guess they do not have faith in their own produxt, since they are not devoting any resources to it. All varia visions have been bricked for 2 weeks and they just dont care!!!!
  • I tied using my 820 to set the desired data fields, then I took the scrncfgda.fit file from the 820and dropped it in the same folder on the 1030 it shows everything correctly now but time will tell if the data update while riding haven't gone for a ride yet.
  • So my little test with generating the data fields on my edge 820 and then transferring the config file to the edge 1030 was successful all of the data fields were shown correctly on tonight's ride I would assume it would work with any of the other devices that will pair with the Varia Vision.
  • Hope Garmin is coming back soon with a solution. My Vision is unusable right now!!!
