randomly (?) flashing headlights in auto mode

I just started using the Varia Headlight with my Edge 820 and set everything to auto mode... one thing that puzzles me is I do not seem to understand what triggers the flashing mode ?

I'm starting to believe it could be reacting to ambiant of light intensity (it switched to flashing mode when going from light to dark places a few times) or deceleration, or turns, or flashing when it detects objects in front... I really can't figure it out... all that I know is that I have a constant beam as long as I ride non stop in fairly dark conditions but when I'm in traffic or in dense city (cars, pedestrians, lights, turns...) the headlight seems to randomly go to flashing mode every 10 to 30 seconds... I'm sort of ok with it doing that since it makes me a bit more visible I guess, but sometimes it does it also when just going fast from a fairly well lit area to a very dark area with a lot of potholes, where it's really NOT ok...!

any one has any idea of what's happening here? any chance the flashing thing could be disabled in auto mode and triggered at the push of a button rather than semi randomly? just ordered an Edge remote... somehow hoping one button could control the flashing behaviour...

I've got the same problem with my setup. Using a edge 820 and a varia radar in addition to the headlight. The edge says 'turn signal' in one of the status screens when the flashing occurs.

The pattern seem to be random, cannot find any releation to use or other. Have also tried with the cellphone away since i in the beginning suspected rf noise.

The biggest consern is that it creates dangerous situations when it suddently starts flashing and its unpredective behavour renders the headlight useless for now.
