Is it possible to turn light OFF and have radar ONLY

Pretty much as the title says -- Is it possible to turn light OFF and have radar ONLY?

I checked the manual and searched the forum, but did not find anything about this.

Reason for asking: light unneeded, so don't want to use battery needlessly for that.

Not true.
Settings -> Sensor -> Lights -> Network Options -> Light Mode -> Individual
Settings -> Sensor -> Lights -> Radar -> Light Mode -> Off
That's all.

I have released a data field that let you switch off and on the rear light. I have tested on a TL 301 rear light but I have reports of users using it with the radar version, if you want to give it a try, it's here:

It works only for devices with a touch screen, so 820 and 1000 series.

Hi Camillo, I used your app already trough out the summer when I was riding in Austria to switch on and off the TL301 when going trough a tunnel in the mountains. Now that I purchased the Bike Radar TL510 it becomes handy as well to switch off the tail light during the day. So thank you for this great application you created. One request aldo :)

Would it be easy for you to create the same application once more or to add the head light UT800 ? It would be great to also be able to just switch off and on the head light without forming this network page. I noticed that the extra light networking page is not always visable but if the single botton you created could switch on and off both the head as well as the tail tight than this would be nice.

The RTL 510 can easily be put in radar only mode with the button on the unit, too. I've tried with mine. When it's on, the button on toip scrolls between modes on - pulsing - blinking - off, and in all 4 modes the blue light is blinking and the radar works. Holding the button for 2 secs until the blue light goes on switches off the unit totally. If the Edge automatically switches it on then just scroll throught the modes with the button again.

how about with a wahoo element?

Short answer: No. The Wahoo units don't (yet) support ANT+ Light pairing, so when you switch the Radar to 'no light' mode with the button the Elemnt units see this as 'Radar Disconnected'. (Same happens with Edge units when it isn't also paired as an ANT+ Light).

This DataField & Widget can be configured to do what you are asking. I have it configured so it only flashes the light when it detects a vehicle though it is highly configurable via a companion web app

Apologies I misunderstood the OP. With this being a Garmin forum I'd automatically assumed you were also using a Garmin head unit without reading the full thread & forgetting that the Wahoo also supports the Varia. So it was just me being a pillock

Mine when I go to Light Mode -> Off, it's always off I can't adjust to other option like low. But I want the light off so I guess that's all done now.
