Varia radar + Edge 810

Maybe Steve has access to unreleased Garmin software, but Garmin has not made a public 810 build available that supports the radar unit.

He now says that he didn't make himself very clear. He doesn't have an 810 which talks to a Varia

I shot over a note earlier in the week asking for clarity on an updated date. I'll post back once I hear back. Given that it's the holidays and going into CES next week, everyone is either out, or crazy-busy. So it might be a few days.

It's been a month. Anything you can share with us from your discussions with Garmin? At this point I just want to know either way for the 810 so I know whether I can go buy one of those Wahoo computers and be done with it.

"Edge 810 Varia updates have targeted delivery in Q1 (there will be two phases and it should all be complete by the end of Feb).

Edge 1000 FE-C support should have a public beta release available this month or next."

Ray, how would we go about getting the beta firmware? Will it be made available via GE, like other firmware updates? Thanks for all your hard work, I know that I would be at a loss without the vast wealth of information that you make available.

Build 5.00 for the Edge 510 and 810 were released today. They added support for the Varia radar.

Edge 810 Changes made from version 4.40 to 5.00:

• New Feature! Added support for Varia Rearview Radar.
  
• Fixed an issue causing device shutdowns when navigating using certain maps.
  
• Fixed an issue where custom speed was set incorrectly in workouts.

Does somebody could post a image of the varia radar GUI on 810 ?

The UI is the same as on the 520/1000.

You have a radar connection icon in the top right hand corner.
When traffic is detected it will put up a traffic bar (either on the left or right hand side of the screen). The position is user controllable as is whether it adds a color halo to both side of the screen or not.

In the example below I have the halo turned off and the radar is reporting one car behind me. The white dot on the traffic bar represents the car.

Thanks for screen dump. I found the right/left option in 810 menu, but nothing about "halo" ??
