Explore suddenly loses active route

I chose Saved Courses, picked my course, and pushed off.

The problem was that half way through what was supposed to be a 14 mile course I suddenly got a message saying "Lost active route", and it automatically ended that course. I had go back to the main menu and choose my saved course to restart.

I have Autostart set at 6 seconds, but no other settings that stand out. I was riding along a road with woods on either side, so is it possible that GPS lost my location? If so there was no indication to that effect.

Any help would be appreciated

  • I observed exactly the same behaviour and did exactly the same as you did. The Explore seems to have a tendency to relatively easy lose its GPS-signal in the woods. But you can't have both - long running time and high performance SAT/NAV reception ... so I decided to live with this. Maybe Garmin will build in an indicating message in a future firmware release (>5.30)?
