Garmin Edge Explore battery life

Hello, when going out for a 5 to 6 hour ride I run out of battery. 'Battery save mode' is enabled.

Is this normal? Do you have a longer battery life/duration? Are there any other options to extend the battery duration?

(Is it for example possible to activate 'text only' navigation without map? Within 'Ride settings' / 'Navigation prompts' I selected 'Text only' but that doesn't seem to change anything? Any idea what this option should allow to do? Is it possible to not show the turn by turn navigation during a part of a ride where you know which way to take? And how is it possible to turn this on / off?)

Did a 1h44m ride yesterday: 100 -> 80%, sensors connected, battery saving off, screen brightness @30%.... so far so good :)

My exchange was like that and then after a month it was back to 2 hours battery life. The 1030 was £299 at Wiggle last week!

Pfff, did a 2h55m ride yesterday and battery went down from 98 to 12%, so I'd say the reset only seems to help temporarily . I've contacted the seller to see what to do. Really a pity as for the rest I'm happy with the functionality and I'm reluctant to spend substantial more money on a device for extra functionality I'm not interested in. If the product specs state up to 12 hours battery life, surely in real life this should not be just 3 hours? Disappointed....

Firmware update 5.30 appeared a couple of days ago. One of the changes is

Improved power source management.

Perhaps this fixes the issue. I haven't been able to try it out yet.

We have made battery life improvements with SW version 5.30 that was released on 12/17/2020. If you are still experiencing an battery life issue, please create a new thread.
