Unable to pair phone after update

The latest update failed to install without turning off GPS, as well as phone pairing.  After updating, I've been unable to pair my phone to the Edge Explore.

I've repeatedly tried to turn off Bluetooth on both my phone, and the Edge; reboot both;  enable Bluetooth again, and attempt to pair, and nothing.

Anyone have a similar experience?

Pretty much every update since I've purchased this device has been a chore; but this one takes the cake.

  • After the update to FW 5.0, I had to pair my android phone to the Edge Explore again. This process worked for me.

    I used the EE menu to forget the phone. 

    Menu > Connected Features > Smartphone > Forget Phone

    Then I started the Connect Mobile App and searched for the EE. 

    Menu > Garmin Devices >Add Device.
