Routes not moving from New Files to Courses

I downloaded a planned RWGPS route to New Files on my new Edge Explore, but when I went to do the ride, the Course was not in the Course file. However, it is still sitting in New Files when I check the device while attached to the computer. Any explanation or advice - this is my replacement for an Edge 500, so new to this device.
Thanks!
  • My guess is that the file you downloaded to NewFiles is not recognized bij the EE as a track or route. The file format and the corresponding file extension must be .gpx, .tcx or .fil So check RWGPS before downloading.
Another reason can be that the number of already stored courses in the folder ..\Garmin\Course exceeds 100.
  • Why not using Garmin Connect? I’ve uploaded lot of .gpx-files as new routes with my pc (in fact it’s a mac ;-). Then sync with the device either via Garmin Express or via smartphone app. In my case it works like a charm.
  • I'm in exactly the same boat! Upgraded from a trusty 500. However, a friend downloaded the same .fit file that I had issues with (showed up in New Files but not in Courses) and she had the same problem. We concluded that it might have had something to do with that particular file. Have not had a problem with others that I've used, but I haven't had it that long.
