Yeah. I was planning on doing the 840 solar since, well, it's the top end 8xx, but ended up going with the non-solar (ordered between your previous post and now). I'm not a 20-30hr ride rider, but I do stare at my garmin when on my rides and clarity, contrast and sharpness are important to me.
Will your mount be lighter too?
Unfortunately not, the only way to make the mount lighter, would give to keep the garmin in my pocket
>>>Are you sure this (lock-on-road) is not fixed?<<<
I don't know if turning off lock-on-road is fixed on the 840. The latest on the 1040 forum suggests it isn't fixed there. I should add that it seems the problem is only with the mtb profiles and not the road profiles, which is a bit ironic.
So you mean you ordered it but the results are still the same? Well, in my opinion, the 840 is an improvement over the 830. It's somewhat faster - although far away from e.g. an Apple Watch - and for me the UI is easier to handle. On the other hand, it's still an Edge.
