Edge 830 and Epix Gen 2 HR

So strange....

I have an Edge 830 fully updated with Beta software, running with UT800 headlight and RTC Radar taillight, all hooked up and all Garmin toys working well with one another and am able to control both via the Garmin widget....so I needed an HR data field and used my Epix Gen 2 to broadcast HR....added new sensor/HR to Edge and it worked well in a Garmin graphical HR data field....all hunky dory like!

So NOW, all of a sardine.....as soon as I fire up the HR broadcast from the Epix, it breaks the Light network and I loose control of the UT800 headlight.....I have tried removing all sensors from the Edge, added starting with UT800 light, then RTC Radar then all the others...(oh there's lots of forums and complaints about bad light network forming and getting them to all play nice!!!) but still not working well. I even removed the HR sensor of the Epix from the Edge so the Edge is not even looking for it but as soon as I broadcast HR from the watch, headlight gets disconnected, taillight still works but it gets renamed to Headlight Camera in list of light sensors??!!!

I even have a spare Edge with same apps etc etc but one that has not been updated in the last month or so and it was working previously with both lights and watch broadcasting, THAT failed and dropped headlight!!

It looking more like the watch broadcasting is an issue that interfers with the light network of the Edge..

Any suggestions?

  • I actually had the old chest strap

Right.  The original post was a question regarding HR broadcasting.  I do that too when I forget to or don't want to wear a strap.  Did you get that to work?

  • Hooo Boy, I think I triggered early arthritis in my wrist....so it was a bit of a disaster, I set the Epix back to vibration via Systems settings and as soon as I activated an activity, it went crazy even with no radar target and did not stop...I do have HR set to broadcast in the Ride Activity settings so it may be that, but it was not good and impossible to tell when the radar was being activated, so switched off and back to beeping rather...so not going to fiddle anymore!
