iPhone 11 Pro + io13.1 unable to connect (successfull)

Upgraded my iPhone to IOS 13 and now I can't connect my Edge 830. My Garmin 935 has no problems.

Tried everything.

- Removing the app

- latest software (4.10) on Garmin

- Delete device from Bluetooth settings

After selecting the accessory and confirming the BT pairing code the connecting process fails:

"Couldn't connect to your Edge 830. It los like something went wrong during setup"

I tried it  few times times and always the same issue....

Should i wait/hope for a new software version? Or is this a known problem and is there a fix for.

Update 25/9/2019:

upgraded from 13 to 13.1, still no success.

I have an iphone 11 Pro

iphone X + ios 12 with a fresh garmin connect app works perfect..

Update 1/10/2019

- connected garmin to an iphone X (ios 12)

- recorded an activity

- synced the activity to Garmin connect via the phone X

- removed the iphone X connection from the Garmin

- set up a new connection between iphone 11 Pr (ios13.1) with garmin

---> successfull. (or lucky)

Thanks

  • 5 out of 8 times I've had to completely un-pair (forget the connection) between my Pro Max and 830 in order to get the BT upload to work. iOS software 13.0, 13.1, 13.1.1 and 13.1.2 and none have been noticeably different. I'll also add that upload over wifi worked fine until 13.1 and hasn't worked since.

Surely WiFi upload is independent of the ‘phone, and can’t be influenced by the iOS version?

  • Exactly... my point being it's a Garmin software issue rather than an iOS issue. I think the iOS updates 13.1 to 13.1.1 etc, haven't had an influence it's only coincidence.

I have the exact same issue.  I’ve tried everything.  My Garmin 830 is new.  I think I’m just going to return Shrug♂️

  • Same issue here with Edge 1030 and iPhone 11pro (iOS 13.2 beta). Tried connecting the Edge to an iPhone 7 (iOS 12.4) and an iPhone X (iOS 13.1) but no luck on either combination. So it indeed looks like a Garmin 8.00 software issue on my unit as I didn’t have problems on the other phones before upgrading to 8.00.

Garmin what’s going on, can someone reply here?

Recently bought a Garmin 830, worked fine with my iPhone XS, now on the new iPhone 11 Pro I’m dead in the water.  Same issues as everyone here.

I’ll give this a couple of days for you to sort out your bugs, then moving on to Wahoo.

Did you not test pairing with the new iPhone??

I can’t help but think there’s a deeper issue of compatibility between Garmin and Apple implementation of Bluetooth standards with the new iPhones in particular as I’ve also seen my Garmin Fenix 3 battery life halve since upgrading to the iPhone 11.

  • Same thing, been trying for almost two hours. iOS 13.1.2 iPhone 11 Pro max Garmin Edge 530. Typical Garmin, NOT happy!!

  • Well well well, look here - Beta firmware: https://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=14953

    • Fixed an issue with pairing to iPhone 11.

That’s just for the 530 though, no updates or replies here from Garmin, so I’m still dead in the water with my iPhone 11 Pro and the 830...
