Edge 820 with 8.40 software keeps defaulting back to Statute units for Distance and Speed. All other units stay at metric. I?ve also had the unit just shutdown on me mid ride. The Edge 820just keeps on giving.
rfruns, It could be a conflict with the settings you have in Garmin Connect and syncing the 820. I'm sure I had this issue a couple of times but I've resolved it now.
This has come up on the 520 and 1000 forums. There is currently a bug in Garmin Connect where it is incorrectly sending over that the distance is statue when it is set to metric.
The information not have gotten to support desk yet. I ran some tests yesterday afternoon and found what I believe the issue is and sent my findings in to Garmin yesterday afternoon.
I would suggest you change the settings *through* GC, just to be sure they agree. If that doesn't work, dump your browser cache, close the browser, Change it in edge settings while disconnected from PC, then plug it in and let GE do its thang. I would add that by default, any good synch program will keep/prefer the device settings. I have GE installed and in my tray. When I plug in my Edge 820, I get a synch complete notification. I launch GC from GE. I've been running Edge 820 in metric since it came out...then again I was metric already, and 8.4 had no effect on that.
Win10 all latest GE V???- don't know, went to check and it updated to V5.7 Edge V8.4
