Anyone having issues using when using the Bontrager Ion RT headlights with the Garmin Edge 820? The light pairs fine with the Garmin but when I use the headlight in a solid on mode it will intermittently start doing a crazy flash. It will be steady on for say 5 minutes and then cut out and flash for about 5 seconds and then go back to steady on. The issue does not happen when the light is not paired with the Garmin and the button on the light is used. I have tried 2 different Bontrager Ion 700 RT lights and currently have the Ion 800 RT light. All 3 lights have done the same thing. I am also running the latest Edge 820 software (8.4).
Have you had the same issue and sent one in to Trek for this? Their customer service has never mentioned anything about this and the last light sent to me as a replacement (800 RT) came straight to me from Trek. I would think the firmware issue would have been figured out and fixed when the Ion 700 RT was the latest model and implemented right away for the Ion 800 RT.
I correct my observation - I notice that systematically now (since 8.4 upgrade) my Ion 800 RT and Flare RT gets disconnected from the Garmin few 100 meters after I start a course - for instance I set them off when starting - then the lights start working on their own, going to flash mode out of my (Garmin) control. I would therefore suspect the latest 8.4 upgrade.
