Almost Gave Up on 820

i purchased my 820 as soon as they hit the market about a year ago. It sucked. One of the worst purchases i had made. It felt like nothing worked particularly well, but the big issues was that it was almost impossible to use the touchscreen. I really had a hard time understanding how any company could release something so bad. The postings on this forum did not give me much hope either. Here is the good news. I RMA'd it, and got my replacement (refurbished) device about a week ago. Night and day difference. I can actually move from screen to screen, and when i hit the off button, low and behold it shuts off. Holly cow, i can even enter my email address using the little virtual keyboard. I'm sure there will be some of the other issues that i was not crazy about, but it has gone from a constant frustration to a very usable device. I might even learn to like the damn thing and start singing it's praises. Just an FYI.

  • Funny, I tried the same. They charged my cc twice and sent nothing. So I told them to forget it.
The customer service rep denied any screen/navigation issues with the 820. Says its mostly just people complaining online, the device is good to go.
  • best thing ever for me was buying the Edge Remote - finally changing screens without worrying too much about the really bad touchscreen ;)
not so great: spending the 50? for the Remote for functionality I expected to work flawlessly on the Edge...
  • Had not heard about the remote. Brent, sorry to hear your trouble. Went very smooth for me. I paid for cross shipping and had the new device within a few days. Sent the original one back after verifying that the new one was in fact better, and got the credit on my card a few days after that. When I first got the device a year ago, I did file a case right away complaining of touchscreen and navigation issues. That might have helped grease this along a bit. Hang in there. Hope you get a resolution.
