Charging while riding from generator

Could an Edge 820 owner tell me if it can be made to ignore unplugging the power cable?
ie: NOT put up a warning message, or set about turning itself off.

Full story: For endurance riding the internal battery has to be supplemented with on bike charging.
A good solution is a 5 volt adaptor running off a generator,
but slowing below 14 Km/Hr cuts the power.
The old Edge 800 reacted by locking the screen with a message "Power Lost".
Not handy when the rider slowed because they'd entered a town and wanted navigation.
The Edge 810 was much worse. It gives you 30 seconds to notice its distress or shuts down.

How does the 820 react?
Thanks,
Michael
