Map update 2025.10 not showing up in Garmin Express

Today was announced that topoactive maps 2025.10 will replace the older 2024.20 cycling map. These have a annoying bug where edge *30 devices cannot reroute or route to a saved location, unless popularity routing option was disabled. (This was not the case with 2024.10)

So I was happy to read that the bug was confirmed and solved in 2025.10.

I succesfully updated my Fenix 7 watch to 2025.10 but after connecting my edge530 I get a "Synchronisation with Garmin Connect failed" error, and only the trailforks map is showing up. No 2025.10 update but also the currently installed 2024.20 map is not shown anymore.

Garmin Express is up to date 7.25.0 + , edge firmware 9.75 too.

I hope this will be solved in the comming days but nevertheless I wanted to let people know that there's an issue going on with this update. (From my perspective)

  • Did you install the "Trailforks" update first?  For me the new maps didn't show in my queue until I updated Trailforks.  I know that since I'm in the US it could be different, but thought I'd mention.

  • I had to reinstall and update the "Trailforks" map several times as it was constantly telling me to update before the 2025.10 map showed. Also a few times I reinstalled it voluntarilly to see if it made any difference.

Now Topo 2025.10 is constantly asking me to update

  • Same Yesterday Evening constantly wanting to update the 2025.10 map, no matter how many times you do it, it wants to do it again.

Today, exactly the same. Tried reinstalling Trailforks then 2025.10, still wants to update. Removed 2024.20 and tried again and it just updates 2025.10 and reinstalls  Europe West 2024.20 again.

  • My edge does ask to update too after I connect it again. But the ride today was fine, no issues with routing, no roundabout issues. My Edge syncs over wifi or bluetooth so I leave the maps as I have them now, and just don't reconnect to express.

  • I suppose the good thing is, if you have the issue too of constantly wanting to update, then it's not just me so it has to be a Garmin issue.

A soft reset does not help either.

Odd not many others are reporting the problem though.

  • My guess; As almost nobody uses Garmin Express for syncing, most people won't notice it. Edge will sync the daily rides, firmware etc through wifi of BT-to-GarminConnect.

I will try again after some months, or when 2025.20 comes out...

    You could raise a ticket?

For myself; I was more suprised that my Fenix7 shows an option to choose only parts of EU map, while the Edge shows just FULL EU. (but under the hood the same files seem to be downloaded.)

(although I need all EU parts because they decided to add Norway to the EAST section).

  • So far there have been at least 6 offers by Garmin Express to keep reinstalling the 2025.10 Australia maps. My work around is simple- I’m just ignoring them.

  • Noticed that Express was eating up my disk space. I stored backups for 2024.20 and 2025.10 on two locations, almost 40Gb wasted

  • On the 830 it now shows the 2025.10 update, see my thread here
    forums.garmin.com/.../garmin-830-not-shows-map-updated---3-different-devices
On the other hand...I noticed that DEM Map is version 2023.10 on the 830 and 2025.10 on the 1040, and Geocode is 2024.10 on the 830 and 2025.10 on the 1040.
What versions are you guys getting on the 530?

  • Versions may be different across regions but Australia/Oceania maps are currently TopoActive 2025.10 and DEM 2024.10. No Geocode on 530.
