Asterisk

I have an asterisk next to yesterday's ride. I can't even open the ride, to upload the data to Strava. I think that the asterisk is preventing it. But what does it mean? Yes, I did have an incident (false alarm), but i'ave had alarms go off before, and not have this problem.

Download the file, then import into Garmin Connect using the [import data page]

Repaired using Fit File Repair Tool.

Hey, it worked! Saved it to my Garmin file and uploaded. Immediately received notice from Garmin and Strava. Thanks...!

I wouldn't say the Asterisk (neither Obelisk, lol) is preventing the ride to be uploaded. I myself have many rides with asterisk.

Perhaps the fit file is corrupted... Just connect it to computer and go to Activities folder where you should find the fit file. Browse this forum or the web what this file contains and how to work with it.

I have the same problem for the first time ever! I have been using Garmin for about 10years! I can't open todays ride and it won't sync. But the distance and time appears under history. I even did a reset of my unit (520) Now what?

There is an FIT file with the actual data of the activity. I suggest examine that file whether it's not malformed or something. If you dunno what to do and how to do it, just browse the web or this forum.

Well, I'd say so. I didn't find anything in the manual for this device, but I can confirm that all my activities with ∗ have triggered incident detection.

Thanks for your help!

I took your suggestion and hooked the Garmin up directly to my computer. I then tried to upload the FIT file for that ride into the Garmin site, but it says that it doesn't recognize that type of file! I presume that it must be corrupted. But how do I tell if it's corrupted, or not...?

Bob, that is about how far I also came. Thank you Bedasek for getting me to there. I then used a "Garmin fix fit file" program. But my file sadly still seem corrupted. I guess this one must just be added manually. It is very strange for me that it happened though! I train nearly daily and this is the first time ever that a file of mine didn't want to work. Guess it is just technology doing its thing. The Gringe.

If you attach your fit file here, we can try to repair it. Zip the file, then in a reply post, Insert > Image/video/file > Upload
