Garmin Edge 520 won't go into mass storage mode

you don't say if you get charging but no data ?

I've had this with some USB cables - charging only but no data.

I know you've already tried a new cable but probably worth trying another - I have a big box of cables and it think about 50% were "charge only" - alternatively try the cable on something else that has a data connection.

no probs - I don't know why the make usb cables that don't have the data cables connected, I suppose it saves .00000001 pence per cable and that all adds up

On some devices you need to stop them going into data mode, hence the need for power only cables.
