12.5

I love how 12.50 is released, but nothing mentioned about the battery consumption, yet all the complaints. I've ridden on "indoor" for 2 hours and still used 30% battery life (only my Quarg is connected). The battery life was SO much better back with FW 9 (ish) for battery life. I have factory reset and everything to see if that would fix issues. Still the same. I sure hope Garmin addresses this issues soon or else they will lose a lot of users with their "claimed" battery life....
  • Apologies for the delay. We are still researching what is causing the battery drain some users are seeing.

    dear Shawn-Garmin

there are so many users complaining about this issue, I'm waiting to know if my Edge itself will be affected by this issue... It's almost 40days since the release of the 12.50 FW...

why, in the meantime, don't you give these users the opportunity to install a 12.20 FW... We have to rollback the FW by ourself insted of being supported by Garmin...

Some users did a rollback and master reset and it doesn’t help. So, I don’t understand how the issue would be resolved if Garmin provided rollback instead of making one by yourself? The files of previous versions of fw are available. IMO, Obviously fw 12.50 did sth that even a rollback can not solve regardless who provides rhe rollback. The only solution is to find what is causing the drain and eliminate it in eg fw12.60. However, I agree. 40days is way too much for such an issue because the unit is virtually useless for longer/marathon races or rides unless you bring the whole power plant with you.
  • I guess it's a good thing that I can't upgrade to 12.5 ... I'm on 12.3, and I don't appear to have the same battery problem ... updates don't look like I will need it anyways.

It's interesting on my Edge 520, on Software Updates, it thinks there is no update available.

I'm not agree since MANY users (here in Italy) have had a great benefit by rolling back to 12.20 and then hard reset the device. And I can confirm it by analyzing their battery usage ith 12.50 and then with12.20...

Edge 520 has an issue, Index smart scale has an issue (deleting datas after uploading an activity recorded by a garmin device)... what are they doing??????????????????? NOTHING GOOD...now I'm totally pissed of with them

Then rollback manually if that works. Why are you expecting Garmin to present a new/old fw? You have the entire fw history on the following link http://gawisp.com/perry/edge/ Just select 12.20 and upload on Garmin. My point was that some of the users reported that rolling back didn’t help resolve the issue.

If they bring me back my REAL money I'll take care by myself of my device... The very disappointing fact is that they put out a FW without even think of trying it. They always use customers to test it...and this is not a fair behavior.

I will certainly consider to switch to Wahoo
  • Confirming same issues as battery drain. 15-20% an hour.

I do not pair it with a phone, bluetooth off, don't even have Glosnos on.. my normal general training profile setting. Low backlight % - 30 as well.

The sensor searching apparently turns off after 2min, so minimal drain at all - so not those (apparently).

I haven't changed settings in a long time, profile wise, bar adding some sensors - so don't know...
