BT phone disconnects

I've had the Edge 520 since release day and I've not had a single issue unit recently. The only difference from trouble free to the BT phone disconnects are that I updated the Edge 520 to version 3.10 and I added Varia Radar.

I have the following paired:

1. Shimano D-Fly (Di2) = No issues or disconnects
2. Garmin magnetless speed (no cadence) sensor = No issues or disconnects
3. Garmin Edge remote = No issues or disconnects
5. Garmin Varia Radar (tail light only) = No issues or disconnects
6. Sony Xperia Z5 Compact = Disconnects several times a ride. The phone does immediately reconnect however.

I've factory reset the Edge 520, I've factory reset the Z5 Compact and the issue continues. I've unpaired and repaired the Edge and phone several times..

I've been told in the radar forum that that radar uses it's own separate connection so if that is correct then I doubt it's causing the BT phone disconnects.

Not a huge issue really as the phone immediately reconnects but it's a serious annoyance..

I don't see many having BT phone drop issues here so I am wondering what else I should try..

    i had the same issue with a samsung S6.. it turned out to be a phone BT range limitation.. switched to another phone and never again had a bt drop when having the phone in the rear pocket
  • I suppose it could be the phone but I was using the same phone before updating to 3.10 and adding the radar and I never had any disconnects..

    I want to try and reinstall 3.10 but can't really find any information on how to force a reinstallation. I don't know if that will help but it's worth a try..

    I might end up doing that if the next 520 update does not solve the issue. Yesterday I had one known disconnect and possibly others that were not announced. I checked the status page several times and on one occasion I noticed the BT icon blinking (indicating a disconnect) but I was not alerted to it. I assume this could have happened several other times as well..

    I assume a 520 update should be coming soon as they need to add Varia Vison (suppose to be released next month) to the firmware..

    Hopefully this gets sorted. Not a huge issue as I stated but an annoyance nonetheless..
