Be sure to operate the Remote within a minute or so of turning on the Edge. If you wait too long the Edge will stop looking for sensors. (The Remote must be operated with a button push to send a signal for the Edge to find. The Remote cannot be found until a button is pushed on it.)
Maybe try deleting the Remote from the list of Edge sensors and reconnecting as a new sensor. I'm guessing here, but you never know. Other than that, perhaps a full factory device reset, which is painful. aweatherall perhaps has another suggestion?
Garmin sent me a new remote, same Issue, need to follow up on the ticket but kind of gave up... Sometimes the Edge 130 plus also turns off, mid-cycling. Not a great experience overall...
