Edge 1040 lag because of Shimano STEPS sensor

Hello,
I updated to version 24.19 one month ago, everything was working fine. But since my outing yesterday, when I follow a route with my e-bike with Shimano EP801 engine, the display of my 1040 becomes very long. It lags. It becomes impossible to follow the route. The Edge 1040 works slowly, as if it had no more memory. I made a backup with my GPS backup, it does not change anything. I noticed that when I delete the "Shimano STEPS" sensor in my edge 1040, then everything goes back to normal ... except that I no longer have access to the engine information on the screen of my edge ... What can I do please?

If it is only about showing e-bike battery and support level, you can use the IQ datafield „ebike field“ of jan czapek:

It works (and only works) when Steps is not connected as sensor to your Edge.
It is compatibel to Shimano Steps since v 3.0.0.

Thank you very much!!! It works! I was doubtful about your solution ... I didn't see how I could have the battery level of the motor without having activated the Shimano STEP sensor, but it is possible with the Garmin IQ "ebike Shield" app. I lose the "remaining distance" and "cadence" fields, but failing that I now have my Edge 1040 usable! Thanks again!

Maybe you can get cadence if you try to search for power sensor. My Specialized ebike sends ANT+ as power sensor and so I have power and candence.

I just tried. Unfortunately, the Shimano motor is not recognized by the Garmin connect IQ cadence apps. Thanks anyway!

Maybe a misunderstanding…
Simply search for a power sensor on your Edge. This has nothing to do with IQ apps. Normally, an ebike motor is found as power sensor.

Yes, I did a power sensor search. The 1040 doesn't find it... :(

I also installed "E-Bike Edge MultiField" (on Garmin IQ) and it doesn't find my Shimano EP801 motor data. "Ebike Field" works great but doesn't give me as much information as "Remaining Range", important information that I would like to find.
