Zwift activities

Why does Garmin Connect Zwift not recognise rides for challenges? Neither time nor distance is taken into account. The ride itself is available with all values. Changing the type of activity has no effect. Do I need to set something else or is it just not working? Thx.

  • Did you try to let your Edge also log the ride and use this data?

  • I can only speak for TAXC Trainingapp on a laptop, connected with NEO - and I assume, it is the same with ZWIFT:

Garmin Connect does show all data, once the ride was saved. But no data is used to evaluate you stats, like FTP, VO2max, records, challenges. To keep all this personal data updated, you have to do what  suggests - and what I do!

Connect your Edge simply as speed/cadence sensor and as power sensor to your trainer. Do not connect the Edge as trainer! Your iPad, pc, laptop or whatever is in charge to control your trainer!

After saving the ride on your Edge and after upload to Garmin Connect (there are 2 activities now on GC!), delete the one of the Edge. And delete the ride on your Edge device too!

A liitlebit tricky - but it works to get your stats updated in GC.

  • Yep.  The Edge has to record the ride/workout data for it to be included.  It does not import data from other apps for this.  As others have said, you need to set up the app (Zwift, Systm, Rouvy, etc...) to work as normal with your trainer and sensors, then separately have the Edge paired to the trainer as a sensor (speed, power, and possibly cadence). When you start your workout in an app, you also need to start having the Edge record the workout.  If you pause in the app, you may also want to pause the Edge.  At the end, save the workout in the app and on the Edge. Of course you've only done one workout but now have two independent records of it.

  • yes, sure. But thats not what I want.

  • Ok, guess I will use the edge for recording.

  • As mentioned, the head unit must record the activity alongside zwift. I just gave up on garmin challenges thanks to their inability to sync 2 data channels: duration and distance. It must be similar to rocket science to achieve this unthinkable task. Well done Garmin. Not wonder Garmin market share keeps dropping

  • I use Device Changer function in FIT File Tools

Launce Device Change upload your Zwift activity then download the converted file and manual import it into Connect.

Its a long winded work around but works to update challenge totals.

  • yeah, I use Device Changer function too. It's quite convenient and suitable for me google baseball
