Time Zone wrong, need manual fix or update Garmin TZ

The problem is that my correct time zone is +3, but the device sets it to +2.
I live in Donetsk (war Ukraine, Russia, etc.), at the moment we are in time zone +3 (Russia, Moscow), but our coordinates are Ukrainian +2 (Ukraine, Kyiv), I need time zone +3.
The Garmin Connect profile is set to Russia +3, the time and time zone in the smartphone are correct, also Russia +3.
How to solve this puzzle and manually correct this parameter?
According to the coordinates it is +3, Garmin should update Time Zone Map (gmaptz.img)!

Thank you!

  • Can we please stop this nonsensical discussion? A huge majority of people who live in Donetsk region have no influence over who controls the region and what is the official time there. At the same time, due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, various sanctions were imposed, so inconveniences for people living under the Russian regime should be expected.

In my personal opinion, it makes sense for the Garmin timezone map to reflect the reality on the ground, whatever it is. At the same time, I don't know if Garmin is still allowed or willing to do business with Russia, which might impact their ability or willingness to follow Russian laws. I definitely don't expect Garmin engineers to closely follow front line changes.

Sounds like time being off by 1h is relatively minor compared to the war in the region. If this is truly your biggest problem, Igorinho, you could try to tweak the timezone map for yourself. The IMG file format is reasonably well described and open source tools to parse and produce it exist.

Tangentially, I am somewhat surprised that civil satnav works without problems near the war zone. Igorinho, are you receiving both GPS and GLONASS signals? Do you see difference in accuracy or GPS signal strength if you choose mutil-GNSS vs GPS-only?

  • Thanks for your time, I'll try to look for software and contact people who collect free maps for Garmin.
mutil-GNSS and GPS-only work fine, sometimes the signal is lost, jammed
