ClimbPro useless?

There is a short climb not far from my home which i ride quite often... and ClimbPro never recorded it correctly. It starts the "climb" 200 metres before it really gets uphill... and then it stops the climb in the hardest part like 200 meters before the climb ends... See attached picture below. I guess there is no need for any corrections in climbs that are XX km long... but in a short climb like this, it is basically useless because there is 200m flat/downhill recorded as a climb and 200meters of the hardest part missing... I noticed this on several different climbs but this short one is the most obvious... Is there any way to participate in updating climbs according to reality? Or we just have a feature which looks nice but is useless? I have latest updates on my Edge 1040 (18.23) and also latest maps. And the recordings of this particular climb were always the same - even on older SW/map version...

  • that is the bug you observed, many people are observing other bugs.

  • This is the most annoying. They (Garmin) have million of activities in BTT rides or roads rides to chose the Climb Pros in the more frecuently ways. But then you go on an ascent that 1000 users go ahead and climb pro chose left this road and take one nobody rides. Annoying. And i think they wont fix it in 2 yares  or more. I change my 1030plus for this feature and if they dont fix it i will sell my 1040 and will go for a Wahoo.

  • Hi  please consider this before you reactivate your 1030: As far as I know, the 1030 cannot do ClimbPro freeride

  • This was the reason i changed my 1030 Plus for the new 1040. The 1030plus can not manage climb pro without route preload. So i changed for the new 1040. Now i see this feature is almost useless. What point of my history didnt you understand?. I sold the old 1030plus, maybe I don't explain it well

  • Hi  I'm glad you responded to my comment and I understand now. Garmin seems to have recognized that ClimbPro is buggy and support told me that development is currently working hard on the bug pool. Maybe you have a little patience before you decide on the competitor. It would be a shame if we lost you here.

  • Thanks to you for the help. I will wait some weeks to decide what to do. I am not lucky with Climb Pro, in the roads where I ride more often this feature goes very bad. Maybe it depends on the route the behaviour. Thanks again.

  • i have the sam issues as you with some climbs Unamused

  • Hi  I don't know your preferences, but I would also like to point out that Wahoo itself says that off-road climbs are not displayed or are only displayed very poorly. Things are different with Garmin. I went mountain biking today and almost all of the climbs were displayed/evaluated, even if they were a bit "inaccurate".

Have a good wait, I think it's worth it

  • We must wait for a while but i think this problems on my fauvorites routes are going difficult to fix. I think its a problem not on the algorythm, i think the problem is in the climbPro map and it will be difficult to fix......One answer, is possible to look in the europe cycle map the Climb Pro ascents?. Maybe with another program, not with garmin express
