Edge 1040 Sensors after 16.11 update

I updated my Edge 1040 recently to 16.11. Since the update my sensors do not automatically connect after putting the device in sleep mode. Sensors will not automatically or manually connect. Only workaround is to hard power off the device and power on. Sensors are then automatically detected.  Not sure if there was a problem with the update. Thanks.

  • We are aware of users experiencing this and are working on a new update to resolve this. We hope to have this available very soon, and will update you here when this is available.

  • There were reports during the 16.xx betas of this related to auto pauses in addition to actual sleep causes and I have had it with just stopping pedalling for a short while on my Tacx smart trainer with auto pause disabled

  • Im having the same problem. Use the device every day and having connection problems is annoying. Waiting for the fix...

  • We understand the frustration this is causing and do apologize. This new release is currently in beta (information here) and we expect this to move to production very soon.

  • Ι also have probs with connected sensors, specially with the sram red etap gears!

  • I updated to 16.12 beta and so far no issues.

  • I have a similar problem since the update but not exactly the same. Happened on both of my last ride.
Sensors are disconnecting after 30,45min. No way to reconnect the sensors and I have to stop the ride and restart the device.

is it the same root cause or different ?

  • 16.12 beta does not solve the issue completely. It works better, but still sometimes no connections possible after sleep mode. Also got some complete sensor dropout (multiple sensors) during riding.

On 24.3 ill start for a 600km brevet and need the data. I bought the most expensive device for not having such trouble.

  • I too bought the most expensive device thinking it was "better" but there are way too many glitches.  My Epix 2 must have the A-team writing the code and the Edge group gets the new hires.

Extended display causes my Edge to shutoff mid workout.

Connecting to my Wahoo Kickr for a workout sets the power to 2960-2963 watts or 1000-1001% of FTP. This is a little more than I can output.  It's better since doing a device reset but why do I have to reset a device to use a smart trainer?

Rotor Inpower power meter firmware update prompts on the Edge 1040 are great but then the update always fails.

Unable to change the data fields on the extended display (I have to use my watch for the smart trainer workouts because my Edge 1040 has no clue what daily suggested workouts I should do since it doesn't sync).

Daily suggested workouts don't sync between the Epix 2 and the Edge 1040.

Other than that it's great at displaying the time of day and the case matches my bike!

  • Seems this is an ongoing issue as there is now _this thread_ concerning the same sensor instability.
