Weather Unknown Waiting for Phone

I have a solid phone connection and data turned on. I'm getting all other alerts, and Windfield.app is displaying the temp, but on the main screen weather always just shows waiting for phone.

Any suggestions?

I was having this exact same issue.

I went into the Garmin Connect app on my iPhone, went to Devices - Edge 1040 -> Glances.
Removed the Weather "glance" by pressing the red "-" and then added it back…

I also saw this today until I opened Garmin Connect on my iPhone. Then all the weather data appeared.

I had this problem with mine connect to an iphone. i wen into the iphone, and told it to forget the edge devices ( there were two for some reason) and then re paired. and it then jumped into life. this happened after the garmin update and the new ios update .

I'm on Android and have this problem. Is the solution to open Garmin Connect on my phone before every ride to get this to work?

Hi relentlessk Take a look at this FAQ: Weather Widget Displays Wrong Information on My Garmin Device and make sure you have location permissions enabled on or allowed all the time.

To me the fact that you have to enable location on the phone itself came as a surprise. So you need a GPS device to feed weather data to another GPS device? It's a useless feature...
