Can anyone report if Garmin have fixed the issue that the 1030+ has with ridiculously long responses to changes in gradient?
Thank you for sharing your concerns about the undesirable lag in road grade. We want to share that we have a plan for an improved solution with consideration of both accuracy and responsiveness. Our engineers…
@Garmin-Mathew.
If you really believe that 10-15 seconds delay is considered “normal” - as the official statement from Garmin is trying to force-feed customers, then what does that say about my Edge 1000…
I currently have a wahoo element (full size) a karoo2 and now a 1040 solar. as of the 12.14 release the 1040 solar still has a ridiculous lag as compared to the other two. I really don't care too much…
Can anyone clear up for me whether the beta code that was said some time ago to help clear up the gradient lag issue has been put into the new fully released 16.11 version and has made it quicker to respond? It's really unclear for me after reading through these updates. Finally getting my new bike soon and considering the 1040 given all of the recent developments over at Wahoo.
If you haven't seen this video yet I would check it out. https://youtu.be/EafiUo9ur-0
Seems to be more an issue with how Garmin is processing the routes when synced from third party services.
First hilly ride today with 1040. The elevation/gradient lag is still comically bad on 16.13. I'm coming from the 1030 where the gradient changes were certainly within an acceptable range. Many times today I was going uphill for quite some time while it still registered a negative gradient. How I would ever use a product like the 1040 in a racing situation boggles the mind....I'm going to attack on this climb when the gradient gets to 10%...oh wait, I'm going downhill now. As so many have said, how this issue possibly passed basic product testing is uh-mazing.
