  • On the 11.19 beta, one of the improvements is - Added smart syncing before an activity. Anyone know what this does? Also, the  - Improved map visibility and contrast with new map themes. Has this helped in viewing the map? What are map themes?

I'm reluctant to install a beta and I will wait until it is finalized.

  • -smart syncing: I have no idea...

    -map themes:
settings can be found under - Profile - navigation - maps
Map themes simplify the map display. Less colors, less details. Supposedly, you can then better concentrate on the essentials. Works with OSM maps only conditionally. I do not need it.

  • Installed and had no issues on a ride today.  I'm running lots of different sensors and lights, all worked as normal.

  • Still nothing for the Bontrager version? Not feeling the love! Will there be a way to reflash a Bontrager 1030 to become a regular one?

  • Some feedback on the 11.23 beta.

The long standing map browse panning issue hasn't been fixed by this update. When panning, the map doesn't display.

Nether as I was hoping with the routing fixes has the super zoom turn guidance popup issue at roundabouts.

There also seems to be a lag with the turn guidance popups, where quite often the turn has been negotiated before the prompt/map is displayed

I'm also experiencing crashes, where the device shuts down when calculating a route. I have to restart the device & recalculate the route again. The 2nd time the calculation seems to succeed. This has happened on the 3 courses I've selected using this beta. I've seem this reported as maybe be only affecting users with 3rd party OSM maps, which is what I have as the built-in Garmin maps in-built routing restrictions prevent certain routing options from being taken.

Other than that it works great Thinking

  • I've never experienced the map panning issue. Does this only occur when using 3rd party OSM maps?

  • It happens on the built in Garmin maps too and mainly seems to happen when I'm following a course & the timer is running. ie when I'm recording an activity.

  • Strange. I have been on many courses with the timer running and I have never had a problem panning the map. There must be hardware change that takes place during different production runs of the computers.

  • I'm as confused as you are. I've raised it with the beta team & sent them some info so maybe they can pinpoint it

  • Since I never had that problem, too: does the state of the left picture stay „forever“, or takes it just some time to complete the map?
