Stop virtual Partner resetting when taking a detour

When using the virtual partner setting on a pre-loaded course i find that it will not progress along the course and display time ahead/behind until I join the route. Or if i deviate from the course and then rejoin my time ahead or behind resets.
I have autorouting disabled.

Is there a setting that once start if pressed the pre-loaded virtual partner will begin allow the course irrespective of when i join it?

  • Yes, very annoying behavior. Not being able to disable virtual partner (after a zillion years of requests to Garmin) is bad enough, but this new behavior means you are likely see it many more times.

One more time... Garmin, please allow us to disable Virtual Partner. I know you can do it because my older Edge Explore 1000 didn't have it at all (one of the reasons I originally bought that model instead of the regular Edge 1000).

  • I'd also like to be able to disable the virtual partner - I find it an annoyance.

  • I have documented, demonstrated, and complained to Garmin about this problem starting 8 months ago. This didn't used to be the case and I've resigned to downgrading the firmware to get it to work again.

  • +1 on this. I would even amphazise that you may be on the route but simply going through a short tunnel and loosing GPS signal for few seconds will have the same effect of reseting the virtual partner. So if you enconter a tunnel on your way, the virtual partner becomes useless.
Garmin, please fix this: don't reset the virtual partner when loosing route because of user or GPS behaviour.
