Compability of old datafields with Edge 1030 and Bontrager variants

Hi, everyone.

I was an Edge 1000 user while it stopped working 2 weeks ago. Then I bought an Edge 1030 Bontrager variant. I was using 3 connectIQ datafields but 2 of 3 datafields that I used most don't support the Edge 1030 Bontrager variant. Datafields are old and developers stopped the development (but these datafield are still the best). Datafileds are:

DIY Data Field (public beta) - which supports the edge 1030 but doesn't support Edge 1030 Bontrager variant.

Heart Rate and Time in Zone - which supports the edge 1000 but doesn't support both Edge 1030 variants.

I have sent emails to the developers and ask for extend the compability but they did not reply.

By the way, I know Hundsmiachns' great work to make diy app from scratch, but I need graph and calculation features.

Now, I have a very big disappointment for choosing edge 1030 and also Bontrager variant.

Is there a way to download and install these 2 old datafileds to my Edge 1030 Bontrager?

    Yes:
    Simply copy the program and setting files to your new device:
    You have to find out which program files in Garmin/Apps are the desired ones.
    Then copy these prg-files and the corresponding SET-files in SETTINGS to your new device.

    But keep in mind that the display of Edge 1030 is bigger!

    But also here there is a way to use the larger display:
    Change your layout in Designer to fit Edge 1030.
    Then send the string to your old Edge 1000.
    Copy the resulting settings file to your new device!

    (I have no solution for the other app -HR in zones- to fit to Edge 1030. But maybe it is "auto-fit")

    Hi, thank you very much for your reply. I found an old backup of edge 1000 on my computer. I copied .prg and . set files. then datafield came back. but there is no settings button in garmin connect mobile app so I couldn't change the layout for edge 1030. A lot of numbers are misalligned and shows wrong values. And layout is not the latest one.

    By the way, my old edge 1000 doesn't boot so I cannot create .prg and .set files on an edge 1000.

    No, you cannot change anything via setup.
    You only can copy an adapted setting file to the new device.

    I suggest: adapt your layout for Edge 1030 on your computer using DIY designer.  
    After that - I offer to you to create the settins file. If you want so - send me a PM and I will provide an email where to send the def-string.

    I guess it is up to the developers to support the Bontrager variant. As far garmin is concerned they treat it as a separate product. Frankly from what I can see buying the Bontrager variant only have disadvantages compared to the regular Garmin version. It brings no useful functionality and only make updating problematic. Pretty much like those companies adding skins to their Android phones. I always steer away from those arrangements.
