1030 routing on motorways in cycling mode, takes detours, cannot make round trips anymore. Quite annoyed :-(

Garmin cycling map 2020.10

Since installing map 2020.10, routing is all but useless, regardless of routing option settings:

1030 calculates routes on highways (motorways) even with all settings in cyclingmode

1030 calculates large detours

1030 cannot calculate round trips anymore, regardless of requested length and starting direction

Reïnstalling Garmin cycling map 2020.10 three times has not helped at all. Neither has resetting to factory settings

Highly annoyed, need quick support...

    Hi again, in a better mood now. :-)

    Managed to solve the problem by

    • Deleting and re-installing Garmin Express on my laptop
    • Re-installing cycling map 2020.10

    Still not a clue what happened...

    Had the same problems with the Garmin Cycle Map EU 2020.10 on my Edge Explore and tried to solve them following your advice. And indeed problems solved - not following highways anymore and calculated Round Trips use normal ways and cyclepaths now.

    Investigation proves that Garmin did rework the mapfiles gmapprom.img, D6017040B.img (formerly D6017040A.img) and gmapgc.img together with the corresponding .gma and .unl files (different in size and internal creation date). It's a pity that Garmin did not publish the updated map with a new version number like 2020.15 or alike. At this moment Garmin Express does not offer a new map update when you are already on version 2020.10, so the only option is choosing yourself for re-install the map.

    If Garmin Express is already the latest (Windows) version 6.21.0.0 I doubt it to be necessary to uninstall / re-install Garmin Express first. Worth a try by directly re-installing the map. If no success the refresh of GE allways yet to be done.

    Yes real, we had:

    File:         D6017040A.img, length 2846425088
    Header:       30.03.2020 15:19:13, DSKIMG, XOR 00, V 20.10, Ms 0, 006-D6017-04


    Now we have:

    File:         D6017040B.img, length 2855272448
    Header:       17.04.2020 14:59:38, DSKIMG, XOR 00, V 20.10, Ms 0, 006-D6017-04


    for Mapset:   Garmin Cycle Map EU, South West,2020.10   

    And Netherland ist on this Mapset.


    All other img-Files are the same (used www.gmaptool.eu )

    And real, next time Garmin should offer for such a fix a new Version  with Express.

    Thanks for giving these details. I checked the D601704B.img file, which is a newer version, and supposed silently the other mapfiles would be renewed too... Sorry for being a bit sloppy on this.
